Personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have arrested a man identified as Obi Levi Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, who has been declared wanted by the Nigeria Police over his alleged involvement in the abduction and ritual killing of a teenage girl.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI) Akinsola Akinlabi, on behalf of the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap.
According to the statement, Obieze, a native of Umuojor village in the Isiagu Community of Enugu State and a self-acclaimed native doctor, was apprehended by operatives of the Lagos State Border Patrol Command at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme road while attempting to flee the country on a motorcycle.
“Through credible intelligence, Obi Levi Obieze was intercepted while trying to cross the border. He has been on the police radar over the abduction of a 13-year-old girl in Enugu on May 27, 2025. The girl was kidnapped while walking to the farm with her father and was later rescued from a shrine allegedly linked to the suspect,” the statement read in part.
Authorities say Obieze’s identity was confirmed through a National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) slip found on him at the point of arrest.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime.
The NIS has since initiated collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force to ensure the proper handover and continuation of investigations.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to national security and maintaining vigilance along Nigeria’s borders to prevent the escape of criminal elements.
This development adds to ongoing concerns about ritual killings and child abduction across parts of the country, prompting renewed calls for tighter border security and swifter prosecution of offenders.
