U-20 World Cup: Flying Eagles Coach Zubairu Set to Invite New Players

Ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup set to take place in Chile later this year, Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has revealed plans to bolster his squad with new players.

Zubairu, who spoke to reporters on Tuesday, said the technical crew is working around the clock to identify and invite fresh talents that can improve the team’s overall quality before the tournament kicks off.

“We are looking at some areas where we need to be stronger. The plan is to bring in new players who can give us more balance and competition,” Zubairu stated.

The coach emphasized that the selection process will be merit-based, adding that scouting is ongoing both within and outside the country.

The Flying Eagles secured qualification for the global showpiece after an impressive run at the CAF U-20 tournament this year, and Zubairu says the team is focused on putting up a strong performance in Chile.

Nigeria is a two-time finalist in the history of the U-20 World Cup and will be looking to go one step further this time around.
