Tinubu Urges Sacrifice, Hope as Nigerians Mark 2025 Eid-el-Kabir

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace the core values of sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness as the nation joins the Muslim Ummah in celebrating the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir.

In a heartfelt statement issued Thursday from the Presidential Villa, Tinubu congratulated Nigerian Muslims and the global Islamic community, urging citizens to reflect deeply on the true meaning of the sacred festival.

“Eid-el-Kabir represents the high point of the sacred first ten days of Dhul Hijjah,” the president noted, describing the period as one filled with opportunities for worship and acts of good deeds. “Its true significance lies beyond celebration—it calls for sacrifice, submission, and compassion, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and taught by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”

The president used the occasion to reassert his administration’s commitment to steering Nigeria toward sustainable economic recovery, amid widespread hardship and reforms.

“Though the journey has not been easy and some have doubted our direction, I assure you that the toughest days are behind us. We are entering a new era of renewed hope and prosperity,” Tinubu said.

He acknowledged the resilience and patience shown by Nigerians throughout a turbulent economic transition, emphasizing that reforms are “gaining traction” and that key economic indicators are showing improvement.

Tinubu assured citizens that the aim of the reforms is not merely statistical growth but meaningful transformation in people’s lives. “There are no quick fixes, but we are committed to repairing the foundations of our economy once and for all,” he said.

The president also extended his condolences to families affected by the recent devastating floods in Mokwa, Niger State, where lives were lost and properties submerged. He called for prayers and collective support for victims of the humanitarian crisis.

“As we celebrate today, let us also remember those in need, including the people of Mokwa. Let us pray for the repose of the souls lost, for the fortitude of their families, and for recovery in the community.”

Tinubu further urged Nigerians to show support for security operatives risking their lives to protect the nation and called for sustained prayers for leaders at all levels, as well as peace across Nigeria and the world.

“May those who have more remember those in need, sharing kindness and support as true brothers and sisters,” he said. “Let the virtues of perseverance, sacrifice, loyalty, faith, and shared humanity bind us closer.”

He ended his message with prayers for divine guidance and the nation’s continued progress.

“May Almighty Allah accept our worship and devotion. May His blessings be with us always.”
