The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced an extension of the grace period for enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement to August 12, 2025.

The decision, approved by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, follows public outcry and concerns surrounding the reactivation of the digital application process for obtaining the permit.

The Force emphasised that the extension aims to accommodate adjustments and improvements in the system to make it more secure, accessible, and user-friendly for all Nigerians.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja and shared on the NPF’s Facebook page on Saturday.

According to the statement, the move reflects the Force’s commitment to citizen-centered policing and transparent service delivery.

“These voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process.”

The Police said work is ongoing to simplify both the online and in-person application processes.

Planned enhancements include improved verification measures and streamlined procedures to cut delays and eliminate difficulties faced by applicants.

Citizens are advised to access the permit application and renewal services through the official portal at www.possap.gov.ng.

The Force also urged the public to report any instances of hidden charges or extortion during the application or biometric capturing process through designated channels, including the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

The NPF reiterated its commitment to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous service improvement, while thanking Nigerians for their patience and cooperation during the ongoing reforms.
