Three APC members sue Gov Obaseki for certificate forgery

Three members of the All Progressives Congress have dragged Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, before a Federal High Court in Abuja for alleged certificate forgery.

The APC members-Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Anakhu- filed an originating summons alleging that the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) certificate in Classical Studies obtained by Governor Obaseki from the University of Ibadan was forged.

They also alleged that Obaseki’s forgery of the U.I degree certificate contradicts Section 182 (1) (i) of the Constitution of Nigeria “and therefore not qualified to run or seek the office of the Governor of Edo State” under the APC in the September 19 election.

This is coming shortly after the APC in Edo State sued the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and National Working Committee of the party for granting a waiver to a governorship aspirant, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

But Governor Obaseki has described the suit filed against him by the three APC members for alleged certificate forgery as frivolous and irrelevant.

Obaseki’s counsel, Alex Ejesieme (SAN), said that the defence team was already preparing a reply to challenge the action in court next week.

The APC in Edo State has been split into two factions since last year, following the unresolved disagreement between Obaseki and Oshiomhole.
