Sowore to Be Arraigned in Abuja After Rejecting Bail Conditions

Renowned Nigerian activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed an unfolding plan by the Nigeria Police to arraign him before the Federal High Court in Abuja on the 29th of January, 2025.

Reports reveal that Sowore, who was summoned by the police on the 27th of January for questioning over certain allegations, chose to remain in custody after rejecting his bail conditions.

In a fresh update shared on his Facebook page on the 28th of January, the outspoken activist, who previously accused the police of plotting to transfer him to Lagos for trial, confirmed that the plan has now shifted.

He is scheduled to appear before Justice Liman of the Federal High Court, Abuja, at 9 am on the 29th of January, 2025.

Sowore explained that the change in plans came after the Lagos Police declined the move, following a leaked report of the arrangement on Monday night.

He wrote, “The Nigeria Police Force has dropped its initial plan to fly Sowore to Lagos for a kangaroo trial, following the leak of the plan. Lagos people say they don’t want trouble. Egbetokun has a Federal Court judge to hear the case in Abuja tomorrow!”
