In a bid to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the forthcoming Eid-al-Kabir celebrations, the Sokoto State Police Command has launched a comprehensive security framework aimed at safeguarding lives and property throughout the festive period.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, presided over a strategic meeting with Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers at the Command Headquarters, where key security plans were fine-tuned.
The meeting, according to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, focused on critical aspects of deployment logistics and bolstering collaboration with other security and community stakeholders.
Speaking on the outcomes of the meeting, DSP Rufa’i disclosed that CP Musa stressed the command’s readiness to maintain peace and order across all 23 local government areas in the state.
He noted that the command would be executing a large-scale deployment of officers to sensitive locations such as Eid prayer grounds, markets, recreation centres, and major entry and exit routes.
“In addition to static deployments, there will be intensified foot and vehicular patrols, along with intelligence-led surveillance operations, all tailored towards deterring criminal activities and maintaining public order,” Rufa’i stated.
The Command also revealed plans to manage the anticipated surge in vehicular and human traffic. Detailed traffic control and crowd management strategies have been developed to ensure the smooth flow of movement around high-density areas during the festivities.

CP Musa, according to the statement, underscored the importance of synergy among all security agencies, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and community-based vigilante groups. These collaborations, he noted, are central to the command’s strategy in delivering a peaceful celebration.
Highlighting concerns ahead of the celebration, the police boss warned against the circulation of counterfeit currency, particularly within cattle markets.
He tasked DPOs with sensitizing market traders and advised livestock sellers to remain alert during transactions.
Residents have been urged to be vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and promptly report any suspicious activity.
The command provided emergency contact lines — 08032345167 and 08032861946 — for swift communication and response.
As Muslims across the state prepare for the sacred festival, the Sokoto State Police Command extended its well wishes and reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to a secure and joyous Sallah celebration.
