Afrobeats artist Skales stirred conversation with his blunt take on why Nigeria’s crime rate appears lower than that of the UK.
During a sit-down on Just Vibes, the singer linked the difference to one key factor: extrajudicial punishments.
According to him, many Nigerian criminals don’t take bold risks because they fear brutal street justice.
“There is lesser crime in Nigeria compared to UK because they know if they [criminals] get caught, there is jungle justice. They burn you alive,” he said.

Skales made it clear he doesn’t endorse this system, emphasizing that while it may deter crime, it operates outside legal boundaries.
He later switched gears, offering insight on the ever-evolving nature of afrobeats.
Skales rejected the idea that the genre has a fixed sound, describing it instead as a broad musical umbrella with no single blueprint.
