Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, fondly called Simi, has a message for fans: stop calling her daughter, Adejare, “Duduke.”
The name stuck after Simi released the emotional track Duduke in 2020, a song she wrote while expecting her first child with husband and fellow artist, Adekunle Gold.
When their daughter, Adejare, was born in June 2020, many fans naturally associated her with the hit song and began calling her “Duduke.”
But in a recent chat with VJ Adams, Simi made it clear she isn’t a fan of the nickname.
She explained that Duduke wasn’t a name, but a sound an onomatopoeia that captured how her heart beat for her unborn child.

Her words: “People call my daughter Duduke, which I don’t like. That’s not her name. It doesn’t even mean anything. Had it meant something good, I would have allowed it. But it’s just a beat, duduke, duduke. That was what I meant. My heart beats like a drum.”
Then came the light-hearted plea:
“Stop calling my child Duduke (laughs). But you know what? I get it, it’s coming from a good place, so I try not to react.”
Simi may understand the sentiment, but she is asking fans to stick with her daughter’s real name Adejare.
