Sea Pirates Disguised in Military Uniforms Abduct 14 on Rivers Waterway

Fourteen people, including a boat operator, were kidnapped by sea pirates on Tuesday, 6 May 2025, along the Isaka River in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, on Wednesday, May 7, quoting sources familiar with the incident, reported that the abduction happened around 12:15 p.m. when a passenger speedboat named Blessing & Happy Marine, operated by Benjamin Alabotubo, was travelling from Port Harcourt to Bille town.

The attackers, reportedly dressed in military uniforms, intercepted the vessel mid-journey, seized all thirteen passengers and the boat operator, and took them to an undisclosed location.

Troops were quickly deployed to the scene, and security forces have intensified efforts to rescue the victims, recover the hijacked boat, and apprehend those behind the attack.
