Robber Stabs Naval Officer to Death in Kaduna, Mob Kills Suspect

A yet-to-be-identified senior naval officer undergoing a course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State, was allegedly stabbed to death on Saturday during a robbery attempt near the Kawo Flyover Bridge in Kaduna.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred when the officer stopped to fix a flat tyre on his way back to Jaji. According to eyewitnesses, the officer had pulled over at a bus stop close to the bridge when an unidentified thug approached him and demanded his mobile phone.

When the officer resisted, the assailant allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a locally made knife. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His remains have since been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital mortuary in Kaduna.

Spokesman of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Lt. Col. Umar Adamu, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that investigations were ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.

A local vigilante, identified as Suleiman Dahiru, who reportedly tried to intervene during the altercation, was also stabbed in the hand by the attacker.

First News gathered from a Facebook post on Sunday that the suspect was later apprehended by an angry mob and beaten to death.
