Re-Elect Tinubu, Reap Your Sacrifices — Oluwo Tells Nigerians

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, urging Nigerians to support him for a second term, saying his bold reforms are essential for the nation’s revival.

Speaking during Eid el Kabir prayers on Friday, June 6, in Iwo, Osun State, the monarch compared Tinubu’s approach to the sacrifice of Prophet Ibraheem, which Muslims around the world commemorate during the festival.

He described the president as a courageous leader willing to make hard decisions for Nigeria’s long-term benefit.

“Patriotic Nigerians have a dare duty of promoting reality by supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term in office,” Oba Akanbi said in a statement released by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Alli. “The support is necessary to restore the lost glory of Nigeria through aggressive reform.”

According to the Oluwo, Tinubu stands out among Nigerian presidents for taking on issues that others avoided, especially fuel subsidy removal, which he described as a tough but necessary decision.

“The fuel subsidy removal was a monumental decision needed to rescue the nation. Almost all past Presidents avoided it.

“Many who tried it failed to enforce it until the coming of a radical president who offered himself as a sacrifice for Nigeria and Nigerians,” he said.

He added that Tinubu is “laying a template for successive administrations” and has shown rare political courage.

“He places honour above distractions. Whoever trying to stop the greatness of Nigeria will be consumed by the moving train anchors by the president. It’s not a business as usual. Nigeria must be great.”

The monarch also claimed that the effects of Tinubu’s policies are beginning to show, citing signs of economic improvement.

“The reform is yielding. Workers wage is improving. Prices of foodstuffs are depreciating. We are getting closer,” he said.

Oba Akanbi concluded with a call for unity and optimism. “Once again, I urge Nigerians to see beyond their nose by giving unalloyed support to President Tinubu. Let’s be an agent of reality, progress, growth and development.”
