Please, return to APC, Ise-Iyamu begs Gov Obaseki

…says ‘we’re ready to work with him’

Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ise-Iyamu, has appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki, to return to the ruling party.

Ise-Iyamu said that he once made the same mistake of defecting from the APC, but the experience turned out not to be a palatable one, and he had to beat the retreat eventually.

The APC candidate stated this in his acceptance speech after he was declared the party’s standard bearer by the Chairman of the Edo State APC Primary Election Committee, Governor Hope Uzodinma.

Ise-Iyamu stressed that he was ready to work with Governor Obaseki if he could heed his appeal and return to the APC.

The APC candidate said, “I’ll like to thank my brother, Governor Godwin Obaseki. I’ll like to appeal to him to return to the party. I made the same mistake before.

“It may be nice for him (Obaseki) to come back. Certainly we’re ready to work with him.”

Ise-Iyamu also appealed for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Earlier, Ise-Iyamu was declared the winner of the party’s direct primary conducted throughout the state on Monday by the Chairman of the Edo State APC Primary Election Committee, Governor Uzodinma, after collating the results turned in by the returning officers in the 18 local government areas of the state.

Governor Uzodinma said that Ise-Iyamu polled 27,838 votes, while his closest rival, Dr Pius Odubu scored 3,776. The third aspirant, Mr Osaro Obaze polled 2,751 votes.

With the result, Ize-Iyamu will be contesting the governorship of the state in the September 19 governorship election in Edo against the candidates of the other political parties.
