Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has again condemned the rising wave of violence across Nigeria, blaming the Bola Tinubu administration for what he described as a “failure” of its security architecture.
In a statement posted on his X account on Friday, April 4, Atiku said the situation had become a nationwide crisis.
“The failure of Bola Tinubu’s security architecture has now become an endemic nationwide phenomenon with repeated killings, more of which do not even make the headlines,” he wrote.
His comment followed the killing of at least 52 people in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, where gunmen raided several communities this week.
The former presidential candidate expressed sympathy for the victims of the attack, noting that Nigerians were slowly being conditioned to accept mass killings as normal.

“Nigerians are now being forced to get used to such news of wanton killings, and I again offer my condolences to the bereaved communities of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State and the affected families,” Atiku stated.
He urged the Federal Government to act swiftly, warning that continued inaction would only worsen the situation.
“I wish to restate my counsel to the Tinubu-led FG to reconfigure its security architecture to meet the needs of protecting the lives and properties of our people,” he added.
Atiku’s remarks reflect growing public frustration over the government’s handling of national security, especially in rural and conflict-prone areas like Plateau, Benue, Zamfara, and parts of the North-East.
His statement adds to mounting pressure on the presidency to overhaul its approach as deadly attacks and communal violence continue to claim lives across the country.
