Pilgrim from Plateau Dies During Hajj in Makkah

A 75-year-old female pilgrim from Edo State, Mrs. Danzumi Adizatu, recently passed away during the 2025 Hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Mrs. Danzumi, a native of Jattu Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area, died at King Fahad General Hospital after a brief illness.

She had completed the Tawaaf ritual the circumambulation of the Kaaba before falling ill.

She was admitted to the hospital on the Ist of June, 2025, and passed away the next day.

The Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Musah Uduimoh, confirmed the loss. He said, “When the complications began, we immediately took her to the hospital for proper medication in line with our mandate.”

“Unfortunately, we lost her and the doctor at the hospital confirmed it was complications due to diabetes,” he added.

Mrs. Danzumi was buried in Makkah the same day, following Islamic tradition. Her family in Jattu Uzairue has been informed.

Uduimoh extended his condolences to the family and reassured the public that the board remains dedicated to protecting the health and safety of all pilgrims.
