Tragedy and outrage rocked Enugu as the residence of a popular native doctor, identified simply as Ezeani, was demolished following disturbing revelations of ritual killings.

Ezeani, widely known as “Ezeani of Ezeagu,” was allegedly involved in the brutal slaughter and burial of human victims for ritual purposes.

A graphic video now circulating on social media — and reviewed by First News — shows decomposing bodies buried in a toilet pit within the compound. The victims reportedly include a pregnant woman and her mother, both allegedly buried alive.

The suspect’s house, cars, shrine, and other fetish items were all destroyed. A voice in the circulating video, captured while a bulldozer tore down one of the structures, claimed the demolition was carried out on the orders of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah.

As of press time, however, the state government has yet to issue an official statement confirming or denying the governor’s direct involvement in the demolition.

This shocking incident adds to the growing concerns over ritual killings and fraudulent traditional practices in Nigeria.

In February, the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Obi Prof. Epiphany Azinge (SAN), banned the activities of ‘Eze-Nwanyi’ (female native doctors/goddesses) and other traditional practitioners following their alleged links to a surge in crime within Asaba and its environs.

The ban followed reports that a murdered Anambra lawmaker — whose body was discovered on the Niger Bridge — had been linked to a shrine in Asaba.

Earlier this year, First News also reported that Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, launched a crackdown on fake native doctors, blaming them for misleading youths with promises of invisibility charms. He cited this as a key factor behind the high number of Anambra indigenes facing death sentences abroad for drug-related offences.
