Osun Govt Dismisses Defection Rumours, Reaffirms Adeleke’s Loyalty to PDP

The Osun State Executive Council has firmly denied rumours suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

At a press briefing held at the Government Secretariat, the Forum of Commissioners and Special Advisers pledged their continued support for the governor and dismissed the defection claims as unfounded.

Speaking on behalf of the 35 council members, Barrister Dosu Babatunde said, “We express our total solidarity and unwavering support for the Governor of Osun State and leader of the PDP in the state, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.”

Babatunde described the speculation as “a political fallacy” propagated by opposition elements, calling it a deliberate attempt to destabilize the administration.

He added that Governor Adeleke remains committed to the PDP, and his administration’s development agenda will continue under the party’s platform.

“Governor Adeleke is not moving to any other political party; it is even wicked to suggest such,” Babatunde stated.

He further assured that the people of Osun would again back Adeleke in 2026, citing ongoing infrastructural and social interventions as reasons for public support.
