A dramatic altercation involving Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the former Governor of Edo State and current Senator representing Edo North, caused major disruption at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall), in Lagos on the morning of June 11, 2025.

According to eyewitness accounts and later confirmed by a statement released by Air Peace, the incident began around 6:10 a.m. when the senator arrived late at Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) to board Flight P47120 to Abuja, scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. However, the airline had already closed boarding in line with its standard on-time departure policy, and the flight proceeded as scheduled.

What followed was a scene of chaos, with multiple eyewitnesses claiming that Senator Oshiomhole became verbally and physically aggressive after being informed he had missed his flight. In the airline’s official statement, Air Peace accused the politician of assaulting its staff, sealing off the terminal entrance, and manning the access gate to block other travelers from entering the departure hall.

This conduct, according to Air Peace, severely disrupted airport operations and affected passengers on other scheduled flights.

In response to the disturbance, the airline activated its operational contingency plan and rerouted affected passengers through an alternate terminal to ensure their continued travel. The company emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for violence and aggression against staff or fellow passengers, regardless of an individual’s status.

Air Peace expressed disappointment over the actions of a high-profile figure and reiterated its commitment to discipline, safety, and respect for due process. The airline also called on all passengers to maintain civility and patience in adherence to aviation protocols and timelines.

As of press time, both the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) have yet to release formal statements regarding the incident.
