Obaseki yet to inform us of his resignation, says APC

All Progressives Congress says embattled Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, had yet to notify it of his reported resignation from the ruling party.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated this while responding to inquiries about the Edo governor’s resignation.

The APC spokesman said, “The party has no record of the reported defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the Progressive party.

“We cannot comment at this moment on media reports suggesting the Edo governor or anyone else has left our great party.”

The APC Screening Committee for the Edo State Governorship Primary had on Friday disqualified Obaseki and two others from contesting the party’s June 22 primary, citing discrepancies in his University and National Youth Service Scheme Certificates as reason for the action.

Obaseki’s disqualification was also upheld by the Screening Appeal Committee and the party’s National Working Committee over the weekend.
