Founder of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu centred on strategies for national development and Nigeria’s future.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday after a courtesy visit to the President in Lagos, Bakare revealed that he shared his vision for a prosperous and united Nigeria with Tinubu during a private conversation.
“My visit to President Tinubu is about how the country will go well,” Bakare said.
“My personal vision is to see a nation that works in my lifetime. Those are the things I discussed with Mr. President. They are not hidden matters, but once you speak to the person in charge, you leave it to him to act on the suggestions.”
The meeting was made public through a post by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, who shared a photo of Tinubu and Bakare together on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
This visit comes months after the fiery preacher called on the Tinubu administration to implement urgent and strategic reforms to address Nigeria’s deepening crises. In April, Bakare had urged the President to take decisive steps to halt the country’s decline and set it on the path to recovery.

Reflecting on his Wednesday meeting with Tinubu, Bakare expressed hope that the President would lead with wisdom and leave behind an enduring legacy.
“I trust that God will help our nation,” he said. “What transpired in my discussion with him stays with him and with me. God guiding him and giving him wisdom will help this nation not to go down the drain, but to bounce back so that he can leave a mark that cannot be erased.”
He further emphasized the need for peace, national unity, and collaboration between Nigeria’s diverse regions.
“I’d like to see a peaceful nation. I’d like to see Nigerians be their brother’s keeper. I’d like to see good collaboration between the best of the North and the best of the South to steer Nigeria in the best direction,” he said.
Pastor Bakare concluded with a call for bold leadership: “We’ve danced around some subjects for too long. It’s time to take concrete action.”
