The Oyo/Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service recorded a revenue haul of N25,777,379,328.17 between March and May 2025 a clear jump of 36.67% from the N18,168,204,255.04 collected during the same period in 2024.
Comptroller Joseph Adelaja made this known at a press briefing held at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan.
He praised the commitment of officers, enforcement of customs laws, and upgraded trade facilitation efforts as key drivers of the boost.
“Our implementation of modern trade facilitation tools has enhanced compliance among excise stakeholders, significantly reducing revenue leakages,” he said.
The Comptroller also revealed that the command has ramped up anti-smuggling operations in preparation for the festive season.

He said the goal is to protect public safety, support local industries, and uphold customs regulations. In May 2025 alone, the command intercepted goods with a Duty Paid Value of N335,648,500.00.
Among the seized items were foreign parboiled rice, premium motor spirit, used clothing, and counterfeit drugs. Adelaja raised concerns about the impact of these products, stating, “These activities endanger public health, harm local industries, and deprive the government of essential revenue needed for infrastructure development.”
He emphasized that every seizure was made in line with Section 245 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023, which provides for the legal seizure and condemnation of prohibited goods.
He closed by reaffirming the command’s continued resolve to enforce the law and protect national interests.
