Popular Nigerian media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, widely known as Nedu Wazobia, has officially stepped down as host of The Honest Bunch podcast.
His departure comes in the wake of a heated controversy stemming from a recent episode featuring comedian and reality TV star Deeone.
The episode in question sparked intense reactions after Deeone alleged that social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) was attracted to men.
Following this claim, VDM fired back with accusations against Nedu, stating that the media personality had persistently invited him to appear on the podcast since 2024.
VDM further alleged that Nedu had even offered to buy him a car as an incentive, hinting that Deeone’s remarks were a calculated move against him.
Adding to the tension, VDM, through his lawyer Deji Adeyanju, warned Nedu against any further contact, threatening to expose alleged dealings involving female celebrities if the matter continued to escalate.
On Friday, Nedu took to Instagram to announce his resignation, citing the immense scrutiny and baseless allegations directed at him as major factors in his decision.
He expressed that while hosting the podcast had been a fulfilling experience, the relentless criticism had taken a personal toll.
“The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me. Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey—one built on open conversations, bold perspectives, and the willingness to tackle difficult topics. But with that responsibility has come an overwhelming level of scrutiny, antagonism, and unfounded accusations that have now begun to take a personal toll,” he stated.
Acknowledging that his departure was a tough choice, Nedu emphasized that the move was necessary for his well-being, his family, and the integrity of the show.
“In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself. I have always been committed to honest conversations, but when those conversations lead to relentless attacks and misrepresentation, it becomes clear that stepping back is the best path forward.”
