The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted approval for additional national diploma courses at the Zamfara State College of Health Sciences and Technology (CHST), Tsafe.
This significant milestone was revealed by the college’s Information Officer, Jamilu Sani Tsafe, in a statement on the 27th of January, 2025.
He emphasized that the development is a strategic step toward addressing the increasing need for skilled healthcare professionals in the country.
The Provost, Alhaji Hamisu Yusuf Yelwa, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the approval, highlighting the rigorous accreditation process the institution underwent to achieve this feat.
He announced the newly approved programs, which include National Diploma courses in Public Health, Epidemiology and Disease Control, Environmental Health Technology, Dental Surgery Technology, Computer Sciences, Health Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering.
Yelwa also noted that existing courses such as Community Health Technology and Environmental Health Technology were included in the expanded list of offerings, solidifying the college’s position as a hub for diverse academic opportunities in health sciences.
He further underscored the institution’s growing reputation by pointing out that “the NBTE’s assurance that graduates from 2018 to 2023 will gain university admission without requiring a JAMB number underscores the quality of education provided by the college.”
In light of the pressing need for healthcare workers, Yelwa announced an increase in admission slots for Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW) and Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEW), ensuring that the college continues to play a vital role in strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
