Gospel music sensation Mercy Chinwo has taken to her official Facebook page to open up about her tumultuous experience with her former manager, alleging bullying, threats to her life, and the circulation of false rumors regarding the paternity of her child.
In the emotional video posted on Tuesday, Chinwo accused the unnamed manager of creating a hostile environment that left her no choice but to relocate from Lagos to Port Harcourt for her safety.
She also revealed that the individual orchestrated a smear campaign in 2024, falsely linking Pastor Nathaniel Bassey to her child’s paternity due to his personal dislike for the pastor.
Chinwo said in the video, “A man claimed I sued him. He came online, made videos to tarnish my image. He looked at me and said, ‘I made you who you are, and I will destroy you.’ I became scared of my life, and it got to a point where I had to move from Lagos to Port Harcourt because this man made the environment toxic for me.”
The singer further accused the former manager of oppressing her financially and professionally, stating, “You seized my royalties for two years; you are a bully. You’re an oppressor. One of my major crimes was when I did a song with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey. Because this man hates Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, you went as far as sponsoring fake news about an innocent child, my son.”
The ongoing rift between Chinwo and her former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as EeZee Tee, has been widely discussed within the gospel music community.
A statement from Chinwo’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, revealed that the fallout began in 2019 when Chinwo refused to extend her five-year contract with EeZee Conceptz to 12 years.
“Eezeetee continues to intimidate her, isolating and bullying her, misleading people, and inviting her for events without her availability,” the statement read.
Chinwo also disclosed that her former manager falsely claimed she sued him, whereas he had initiated legal proceedings against her and Minister Judikay. She presented court documents to substantiate her claims.
In April 2024, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey had called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate and prosecute individuals who falsely accused him of fathering Chinwo’s child.
The allegations, which went viral on social media, were later traced to a smear campaign allegedly orchestrated by Chinwo’s former manager.
Chinwo’s video has sparked widespread reactions, with many fans and colleagues expressing shock and offering support.
The video has also reignited conversations about the challenges faced by gospel artists in navigating professional relationships in the industry.
