Military Jet Mistakenly Hits Vigilantes as Bandits Kill 20 in Zamfara

Over 20 farmers were killed and more than 50 villagers kidnapped after armed bandits launched a deadly assault on Mani community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State over the weekend.

Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the incident on Monday, June 2, via a post on X, revealing that a military airstrike intended to repel the attackers tragically struck local vigilantes instead.

“Yesterday, bandits attacked Mani community of Maru LGA in Zamfara and killed over 20 farmers. More than 50 persons are still in captivity. A military aircraft that came for protection mistakenly fired on vigilantes,” he wrote.

As of the time of filing this report, the Zamfara State Government and security agencies have not issued any official statements on the tragedy.
