Popular Nigerian comedian AY has come to the defense of singer 2Face amid the uproar over his divorce from wife Annie, criticizing those who have been quick to condemn him without considering the deeper reasons behind the marital breakdown.
The singer’s announcement has ignited a storm of reactions on social media, particularly from fellow celebrities.
However, AY, speaking out amidst the backlash, pointed out that many critics are overlooking the root causes of the divorce.
Stressing that no one enters a marriage with the intention to fail, AY called on ‘online in-laws’ and blogs to focus on empathy rather than sensationalizing the drama.
On his Instagram story, he shared: “The man is always the monster in every story. Until you hear the true story.”
He echoed similar sentiments on his X account, writing: “Instead of casting blame in broken marriages, why not focus on why the institution itself is under attack? No one goes in with a plan to fail. It’s disheartening to see online in-laws and blogs basking in sensationalism, often at the expense of those who are in pain. Real lives are involved. Let’s prioritize empathy over drama and content. Some of you won’t be satisfied until you drive someone to suicide.”
