Police in Anambra State have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a yet-to-be-identified woman whose body was found hanging from a cashew tree along the Ike-Ideani Road in Idemili North Local Government Area.
The discovery, made by residents of the Ideani community, sparked shock and concern within the area.
The body was found in a secluded part of the road, prompting suspicions of foul play.
Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, described the incident as tragic and ordered a full-scale investigation to uncover the cause of death.

He urged members of the public, particularly community leaders and stakeholders in the area, to assist law enforcement with any useful information.
“This is a tragic incident and an example of man’s inhumanity. We are determined to identify those responsible and bring them to justice,” Orutugu said.
Police operatives from the Ogidi Division have since recovered the body and deposited it at the mortuary for further examination.
Authorities are also appealing to the public to help identify the deceased so her family can be contacted.
