Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that the club is bracing for the potential departure of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, amid ongoing negotiations with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Speaking about the situation, Alonso admitted that discussions are taking place between Leverkusen and Al Nassr regarding the Super Eagles forward.
“There is this situation, and I understand that. There are discussions with the club,” Alonso stated. “We have to wait. We’re preparing for the game without Boni, of course.”
Boniface has been a key figure for Leverkusen this season, playing a crucial role in their Bundesliga title charge.
However, his potential move to Saudi Arabia could be a major blow to the team as they look to maintain momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
With Al Nassr reportedly keen on securing the services of the 23-year-old striker, Leverkusen may have to move quickly to find a replacement if the deal goes through.
