A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Oshodi, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of 34 individuals arrested for illegally occupying medians and setbacks along the Ojo-Alaba Road corridor.
The suspects, made up of 32 males and two females, were arraigned on Tuesday following their arrest during a weekend enforcement operation carried out by the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as KAI.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Muyiwa Gbadegesin, disclosed this in a statement shared on his X handle (Formerly Twitter).
He said, “During enforcement operations conducted last Saturday, a total of 34 individuals — comprising 32 males and two females — were apprehended for offences including residing, trading on, and/or defacing the median and setbacks along the Ojo-Alaba Road corridor.

“They were arraigned today (Tuesday) before the Magistrate’s Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi, and have been remanded in custodial detention until 22 July 2025.”
He stated that the operation was supported by personnel from the OP MESA team attached to the NNS Beecroft naval base in Apapa.
According to LAWMA, it had intensified efforts to keep Lagos clean and ensure compliance with environmental laws, particularly in areas prone to illegal activities along public infrastructure.
