The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of 41 suspects, including key perpetrators, in connection with the horrific murder of CSP Baba Ali, the Divisional Police Officer of Rano Division, who was slain while on duty.
In a statement released Wednesday, the spokesperson for the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, described the killing as a “senseless” and “brutal” act that has shaken the force and drawn widespread condemnation across the state.
“This gruesome incident is not just a murder of a senior officer,” Kiyawa said, “it is a direct attack on the entire law enforcement community and an affront to the peace and order of our society.”
The attack, which also involved arson and acts of vandalism, triggered a rapid security response that led to the apprehension of dozens of suspects.
Authorities confirmed that among those arrested are individuals believed to be the masterminds behind the deadly assault.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has assured the public that justice will be served.
“We will not rest until all those behind this heinous crime are brought to book. This Command will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of justice,” Bakori affirmed.
