The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding cooperation with the European Union (EU), focusing on key sectors such as education, renewable energy, and digital development.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made this known on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Gautier Mignot, at the Government House in Kano.

In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Tofa, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the EU’s decision to host the first-ever Study in Europe Fair on the African continent in Kano. He described the gesture as a testament to the EU’s confidence in the state’s growing potential.

“We are optimistic that with stronger collaboration, we can significantly improve our educational system and tackle the persistent power supply challenges hindering industrial growth,” the governor stated.

In his remarks, Ambassador Mignot said the EU is looking to deepen its engagement with Kano State, particularly in areas of education, youth empowerment, and the digital economy.

He also confirmed that the EU delegation would visit ongoing and completed EU-funded projects in the state, with a focus on initiatives aimed at advancing youth development and innovation.

The ambassador’s visit is part of broader efforts by the EU to enhance regional partnerships that support sustainable development across Nigeria.
