Four months after election, Kaduna deputy speaker impeached

Kaduna State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Mukhtar Isa Hazo, has been impeached barely four months after he elected into the position.

The deputy speaker was impeached by 24 members of the assembly at Thursday’s plenary session.

Reasons for his impeachment could not be immediately ascertain, but First News learnt that his offence was his alleged inability to discharge the duties of his office.

Hazo was only elected in February this year as the House’s deputy speaker.

He was elected alongside the Speaker, Yusuf Zailani, following the resignation of some principal officers of the Assembly.

A planned impeachment was said to have forced the officers to resign.

Hazo’s replacement had yet to emerge as of the time of filing this report.
