‘I’m Not Defecting to APC’, Abia Gov Debunks Defection Rumours

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has dismissed rumours suggesting that he plans to defect from the Labour Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The speculation intensified after a series of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, where former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, officially became members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In an interview on Arise Television on Friday, the Abia State governor stated that the idea of switching parties simply to gain proximity to power was unnecessary.

Otti said, “Governor Otti is not decamping and my party is not on shaky ground.

Talking about if he’ll leave the LP in the future, he said: “I am not God. I cannot say if there’s no LP tomorrow.”
