Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Resigns as Vice President’s Political Adviser

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Special Adviser on Political Matters in the Office of the Vice President, has tendered his resignation from the position. Presidency sources confirmed on Friday that Dr. Baba-Ahmed, a former prominent spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), submitted his resignation approximately two weeks prior to the confirmation.

While the specific reasons for his departure remain undisclosed, sources within the presidency indicated that Dr. Baba-Ahmed cited personal grounds in his resignation letter. As of the time of this report, it is unclear whether the presidency has formally accepted his resignation.

Dr. Baba-Ahmed’s resignation marks the second notable departure from President Bola Tinubu’s administration in recent times. It follows the resignation of Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Publicity, who stepped down in September 2024 citing urgent medical issues affecting his immediate family.
