Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has expressed satisfaction over the improving security situation in the state, commending the efforts of security forces and other stakeholders working towards lasting peace.
Speaking on the development, Governor Lawal stated, “Today is a great day as it signifies the positive strides we are making in securing Zamfara State. I extend my gratitude to the troops and all partners committed to restoring peace.”
Beyond security, the governor highlighted ongoing discussions between the Federal Government, the State Government, private investors, and local communities.
The talks, he noted, are aimed at identifying economic strengths and leveraging the state’s rich mineral resources for growth.
“Zamfara is endowed with solid minerals, and if properly harnessed, they can significantly boost revenue and accelerate the state’s development,” he emphasized.
During his visit to Maru Local Government Area, Governor Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s support for artisanal miners, assuring them of measures to ensure their operations align with legal standards.
To curb environmental degradation caused by mining activities, the governor pledged to provide essential tools and facilitate miners’ registration for proper documentation.

“We are working closely with the Federal Government to implement necessary reforms. I will instruct the Commissioner for Environment to engage with you, ensuring that everyone is duly registered,” he announced.
Additionally, he assured the miners that the state government would assist them in obtaining small-scale mining leases from the Federal Government.
However, he urged them to organize themselves into cooperative societies to benefit from government interventions.
Governor Lawal’s initiatives align with his administration’s broader vision of security, economic revitalization, and sustainable development in Zamfara State.
