Ganduje Backs Tech Tools to Crush Insurgency

In the wake of yet another assault on a military base in Yobe State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is urging a shift in Nigeria’s security strategy, one that places technology at its core.

Leading the APC’s National Working Committee on a sympathy visit to the troubled state, Ganduje didn’t mince words. He condemned the renewed wave of insurgent violence across Yobe and the broader Northeast, calling it a clear sign that old methods are no longer working.

“We also acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Government, security agencies and communities, but the situation has reached an advanced stage now where strategy must be changed.

“In our opinion, technology should be deployed in addressing the security situation of the country,” he stated.

Ganduje stressed that criminal elements have turned Nigeria’s forests into operational bases.

He wants those strongholds dismantled.

His call: comprehensive surveillance of forest zones to root out insurgents and restore control.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, while receiving the APC delegation, expressed appreciation for the party’s show of solidarity. He also gave insight into local efforts aimed at pushing back against terror threats.

“We, at the Subnational level and Governors of the Lake Chad Basin Forum are carefully analysing the use of drones by the enemy to collaborate with security agencies to check the menace,” Buni said.

Both leaders are united in one thing: Nigeria’s fight against insecurity needs more than manpower. It needs machines, intelligence, and a new game plan.
