Fulani Herdsmen Attack Communities, Leave Dozens Dead, Others Injured in Imo

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have launched a violent attack on Agwa and surrounding communities in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to reports, the attack resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.

Among those affected is a pregnant woman, known as Joy Osita Achugwo, who sustained gunshot wounds during the assault.

She is currently receiving critical medical care and fighting for her life.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage across the region, with residents and public officials calling for immediate government intervention to curb the escalating violence and protect civilians.

The Chairman of Oguta LGA, Ifeanyi Nnani, visited survivors of the attack on Tuesday and strongly condemned the incident.

“The gruesome killings of innocent people in their homes and on their farms highlight the growing insecurity in our state,” Nnani stated.

He expressed his condolences to the victims and their families and pledged the local government’s commitment to restoring peace in Agwa and its environs.

“We will pursue all lawful means to ensure those responsible for these heinous acts are brought to justice,” he added.
