When Mr. Hakeem Ayodeji Nafiu stepped into a modest classroom in southwestern Nigeria as a young educator, he never imagined that one day he would be helping shape the future of teacher training across two continents.
Today, as a doctoral candidate in Educational Administration at a U.S. university and founder of OLAAN Global Academy, Mr. Nafiu is not just rethinking education — he’s reforming it.
Driven by a bold vision to see a quality teacher in every African classroom, Mr. Nafiu has combined academic research, leadership development, and international experience to develop innovative teacher training programs aimed at transforming how education is delivered in Nigeria and beyond.
Bridging the Training Gap
After completing his initial studies in Nigeria, Mr. Nafiu pursued advanced education in the United States, where he was exposed to comprehensive teacher development systems in both the U.S. and Canada.
“What stood out to me,” he says, “was how teachers there are not just trained — they are equipped to lead.”
His doctoral research centers on ethical leadership in early childhood education — a topic often overlooked in traditional African teacher preparation. Through academic rigor and community engagement, Mr. Nafiu discovered that school administrators who lead with ethical clarity directly impact teacher retention, classroom quality, and student outcomes.

Using His Voice for National Reform
On August 13, 2024, Mr. Nafiu took his message to the airwaves during a guest appearance on Nigeria Police Radio 99.1 FM Abuja, where he passionately addressed the importance of ethical leadership and teacher quality. His appearance sparked conversation nationwide, with listeners calling in to share challenges in the education sector and seek solutions.
Mr. Nafiu also writes regularly for public forums, publishing op-eds on education reform and speaking at academic conferences focused on African development, education policy, and diaspora engagement.
From Local Roots to Global Influence
Though now based in North America, Mr. Nafiu has never lost sight of his mission back home. He is currently working on a Continental Teacher Leadership Fellowship program aimed at mentoring African educators in leadership and ethics — set to launch in West Africa in 2026.
“Reforming African education begins with reimagining the teacher,” he says.
“We need to stop treating teachers as tools and start treating them as nation-builders.”
