Fire Ravages Jos Terminus Market, Millions Lost in Goods, Property

A massive fire ripped through parts of the iconic Terminus Market in Jos on Wednesday, leaving traders devastated and millions of naira in goods and property destroyed.

The blaze, which erupted in the early hours, tore through stalls and shops before firefighters managed to bring it under control.

Videos and images circulating on social media showed thick plumes of smoke and panicked traders trying to salvage what they could.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating, “Goods and properties worth millions of naira were burnt in the fire, which has since been brought under control, as of the time of filing this report.”

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident.

Meanwhile, shop owners and traders are counting their losses, many left in despair after years of hard work were reduced to ashes in a matter of hours.

The Jos Terminus Market, a major commercial hub in Plateau State, has experienced fire outbreaks in the past, raising concerns over infrastructure safety and emergency preparedness.

No casualties have been reported so far.
