Former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos home on the 9th of June, 2025, saying the purpose was simple, which is to show support.
Speaking with reporters after the meeting, Fayose reflected on his political past.
He didn’t mince words about his stance on the former Buhari administration, where he stood as a sharp critic. But he drew a clear line between then and now.
“I was once a critic of the last administration but you can’t compare the situation now,” Fayose said.
He clarified that despite contesting under the PDP, he had always respected Tinubu’s leadership instincts even during his own time in office.

“I have always believed in President Tinubu’s leadership even when I was a PDP Governor.
“For me, I’m here to visit him for his homecoming, and encourage him to do more.
“The only thing we can do as leaders of this country, is to encourage him to lift up his hands and make the public understand that lead an economy that was down and now being stabilized,” he added.
The meeting, while informal, sends a signal, political lines blur when it comes to national interest.
