As Muslims across the world mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival, the Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Lawal Adamu Usman, popularly known as Senator LA, has reaffirmed his commitment to using the mandate entrusted to him by the people to deliver real and lasting dividends of democracy across the district.
In a statement released on Friday to commemorate the Eid celebrations, Senator Usman congratulated all Muslim faithful in Kaduna State and across Nigeria, praying that Allah accepts their acts of worship and sacrifices. He described the festival as a time for reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to the service of humanity, calling on Nigerians to offer special prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of the nation.
The Senator, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education and serves as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Financial Matters, used the opportunity to highlight some of the impactful projects and programmes he has undertaken within his first two years in office. He noted that these initiatives were not only aimed at improving infrastructure and access to education but also designed to directly empower constituents and uplift the most vulnerable members of society.
According to him, his stewardship has seen the construction of 100 smart primary schools furnished with state-of-the-art learning equipment, as well as the provision of hundreds of millions of Naira in scholarships and financial support for students across the humanities and sciences. Senator Usman revealed that over 1,000 students in tertiary institutions have benefitted from tuition support, while hundreds more were sponsored for national examinations such as WAEC and UTME. He added that bursary allowances ranging from N100,000 to N150,000 have been disbursed to hundreds of students.
In his drive to empower the youth and women across his constituency, Senator LA said that more than N500 million has been injected into various empowerment schemes, including skills acquisition in soap-making and fish farming, as well as entrepreneurial training for over a thousand beneficiaries. He also disclosed that 500 youths and women received N500,000 each as business startup capital.
To boost infrastructure and improve living conditions in rural communities, the lawmaker has provided over 200 electricity transformers to power homes and businesses, alongside the drilling of boreholes to supply potable water, and installation of solar-powered streetlights across the seven local government areas of Kaduna Central. He revealed that efforts are in top gear to construct over 20,000 kilometres of roads to facilitate easier transportation of people and goods throughout the senatorial district.

On the legislative front, Senator Usman noted that he has so far sponsored four critical motions and four bills, all of which have reached the third reading stage in the Senate and are on course to becoming law. He also mentioned his sponsorship of pilgrims to perform the lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia, describing it as part of his efforts to support the spiritual upliftment of his constituents and pray for the progress and unity of Nigeria.
Senator Usman urged Muslim faithful to use the opportunity of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir to reflect on the values of sacrifice, selflessness, and unity as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, whose unwavering obedience to Allah is the basis of the celebration. He said Nigeria’s current challenges demand collective prayers and support for leaders at all levels, especially in the face of economic hardship and security concerns.
The lawmaker stressed that he remains fully committed to improving the welfare of his people and working tirelessly to attract more development to Kaduna Central. He called on the people to continue to support his efforts and those of the 10th National Assembly, assuring that their trust in his leadership will yield even greater benefits in the years ahead.
He said, “On this joyous occasion of the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, I extend warm greetings to the entire Muslim Ummah in Kaduna Central, all over Nigeria and across the world. I urge us all to reflect on the essence of this season — sacrifice, duty, and collective responsibility — and use it to pray for our leaders and the nation. Let us continue to show compassion, empathy and work together to build a better future for all.”
Senator Usman concluded by charging Muslims to promote peace, tolerance, and unity in all their interactions, and to resist any actions that could ignite religious or communal tensions. He emphasized the need to emulate the peaceful lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who coexisted harmoniously with people of other faiths and cultures.
