COVID-19: Two weeks after hospitalisation, Ajimobi still positive

Two weeks after his admission at the First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos, the immediate past Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has remained COVID-19 positive.

But his wife, Florence, was treated and discharged from hospital earlier.

Ajimobi, who is the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, it was gathered, had been in the hospital since June 2, 2020.

The former governor was said to have been earlier confirmed positive, but decided to manage his condition at home until the illness worsened and he had to be admitted in hospital.

Ajimmobi, just like other VIPs, was said to have opted for private treatment rather than a public facility after his condition worsened.

Family sources say, just as it’s common with men of Ajimobi’s age, the former governor had an underlying ailment, which had been slowing down his recovery from the illness.

He said, “The former governor has been in the hospital for two weeks. We are hoping for the best. The irony is that the person whom we believe he contracted the disease from has been discharged.

“However, the former governor has an underlying ailment which is slowing down his recovery. We hope he recovers soon.”

Ajimobi is admitted in the same hospital where Lagos East’s Adebayo Osinowo, died on Monday.

Former chief of staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who contracted the deadly COVID-19 and eventually succumbed to it, was also admitted to the same hospital.
