Federal Capital Territory Ministerial Enforcement Task team on COVID -19 Restrictions has sealed up the Jabi Lake Mall for contravening the Presidential Task Force’s directives on the ban on public gatherings.
This was sequel to the judgment of a Mobile Court sitting in Jabi and presided over by Magistrate Idayat Akonni.
Apart from violating the rules of social distancing and use of face masks in public places, the concert breached the 10pm to 4amcurfew in the territory.
The event had attracted a wave of public backlash on Sunday with many residents accusing the government, including Aviation authorities of double standards.
In her ruling, the Magistrate ordered that the Mall be sealed for two weeks.
Addressing journalists after the judgment, Chairman of the Taskteam, Ikharo Attah frowned on the violation of the Covid-19 regulations by the management of the Jabi Lake Mall, which he said not only hosted the concert but also conducted business beyond the hours sanctioned by the FCT Administration.
On whether the FCT Administration would declare Marley wanted, Attah said; “He flew into Abuja on Friday from Lagos and returned same day to the nation’s former Capital City. “We are convinced that the Lagos State Government, which had in the recent past had an unpleasant experience with the artiste, would do the needful since he also breached the interstate travel ban which applies to Lagos State.”
