CJTF Repels ISWAP Attack in Borno, Kills Three Terrorists

Members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) under Operation Hadin Kai foiled a terrorist attack on Izge town in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, killing three fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on Wednesday, 7 May, citing information from intelligence sources.

According to the sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday night when the insurgents tried to sneak into the town under cover of darkness.

CJTF operatives confronted the attackers in a prolonged gunfight that eventually forced them to retreat.

“The CJTF men stood their ground and successfully repelled the attack. Three of the terrorists were neutralised during the exchange of fire, while the rest fled into the bush with gunshot wounds,” the source said.

The operatives recovered an anti-aircraft gun and three motorcycles used by the insurgents during the operation.

The source also confirmed that no civilian was harmed, and the area has since returned to normal.

The CJTF continues to be a crucial support force for the military in the North East, especially in intelligence gathering and defending communities from insurgent threats.
