Buhari Mourns Flood, Crash Victims in Niger, Kano: “My Heart Bleeds”

…Says tragic incidents are shocking, devastating

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of more than 100 people following flash floods in Niger State and a separate tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 22 athletes, coaches, and officials in Kano State.

In a heartfelt condolence message issued on Sunday and signed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, the former Nigerian leader described the two events, which occurred in rapid succession, as “painful and devastating.”

“I am deeply pained by the loss of lives due to the floods in Niger State and the road accident in Kano State. The deaths are painful and devastating,” Buhari said.

“My heart bleeds.”

The flash floods, which ravaged several communities in Niger State last week, left a trail of destruction, displacing thousands and causing widespread damage to homes and farmlands. Days later, the nation was again thrown into mourning following the death of 22 sports team members in a ghastly auto crash in Kano.
