BREAKING: I’ll no more accept your excuses, Buhari tells security chiefs

…says ‘your best not good enough’

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday rated the performance of the nation’s service chiefs low, saying their best is not good enough.

Buhari, who said although the service chiefs were trying to tackle the security challenges being experienced across the country, noted that they were not doing enough to secure Nigeria and her citizens, especially against insurgents and terrorists.

The President, therefore, read the riot act to the service chiefs, warning them that he would no longer accept excuses.

National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.), disclosed the President’s position to State House correspondents at the end of a meeting Buhari had with the security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.

Monguno quoted Buhari as telling the service chiefs, who he appointed since 2015, that he expected them to henceforth live up to expectations.

Following the worsening insecurity across the country, Nigerians have been appealing to President Buhari to sack the service chiefs for their non-performance. But the President, who appointed the service chiefs, had on different occasions extended their tenure in office.
