BREAKING: EFCC Denies Giving Reasons to VeryDarkMan’s Arrest

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted reports circulating online from various news outlets that had released a statement explaining the reasons behind VeryDarkMan’s arrest.

EFCC took to its social media accounts to share photos from some of the news outlets who reported the news, tagging it as fake.

According to multiple reports, a source within the EFCC disclosed that they picked VDM up based on several complaints that he used his social media platforms to harass, insult, and intimidate individuals, actions that may contravene the Cybercrimes Act of 2015.

However, many prominent Nigerian politicians and musicians, like Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the People Democratic Party, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido and some human right groups have condemned the arrest of VeryDarkMan.

FirstNews on Monday, reported that some group of Nigerians stormed the branch of Guarantee Trust Bank and the office of the EFCC, demanding the immediate release of VDM.

VeryDarkMan was arrested on Friday, after he went to one of the GTBank branches in Abuja to complain about the unauthorised transactions on his mother’s account.
