Dissolution: 18 Oshiomhole-backed NWC members move to drag Buhari to court

…insist ‘NEC meeting illegal, we remain party officials’

Eighteen members of the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee loyal to the party’s sacked National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday, threatened to drag President Muhammadu Buhari to court over the National Executive Committee meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

They insisted that the APC NEC meeting hosted and attended by the President Buhari, and which sacked them, was illegal.

The NWC members stated this in a statement jointly signed by the sacked acting National Chairman, Hillard Eta, and the acting National Secretary, Waziri Bulama, saying that they were already consulting their lawyers and other stakeholders on the dissolution of the NWC and other decisions taken at the Thursday NEC meeting.

They insisted that the NEC meeting was illegally convened by the suspended Deputy National Secretary of the party, Victor Giadom.

The sacked 18 NWC members also insisted that they remained the authentic officials of the ruling APC.

While the Thursday NEC meeting was still holding, Buhari’s social media aide, Bashir Ahmad, in his Twitter handle, had said the dissolution of the NWC was based  on the recommendation of the President.

According to him, “Following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has been dissolved. Details to come…”
