Reality TV star and actress Alex Unusual has voiced her concern and confusion regarding the recent actions of the Lagos State Government, which reportedly involve the rounding up, harassment, and detention of homeless individuals in the state.

In a post shared on her Instagram story on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the former Big Brother Naija housemate sought clarification on the reported arrests, stating her distress and desire to understand the rationale behind the government’s actions.

“Can someone please educate me on/ explain to me why Lagos State is arresting homeless people? I’m confused, so before it saddens me or ruins my day, I need to understand,” she wrote.

Expressing her emotional response to the situation, Alex Unusual admitted that the reports had already negatively impacted her day, highlighting the perceived injustice of targeting those without shelter.

“In fact, it has already ruined my day. What is the crime? Not having a house? Because even people with houses litter the environment once they step out as well. I see people throwing stuff from cars. Why are homeless people sleeping in corners being arrested?” she questioned.

Further amplifying her concerns, the reality TV star shared a video on her Instagram story purportedly depicting the rough handling, alleged assault, and subsequent arrest of homeless men who were sleeping under a bridge. Her accompanying text expressed dismay at the treatment shown in the video:

“This is my reason for asking. Holding their trousers with no criminal charges, slapping them up from sleep, dismantling their sleeping areas without giving them time to carry their hard earned possessions!!! Am I missing something here?”

Alex Unusual’s public questioning of the Lagos State Government’s actions adds to a growing discourse on the treatment of vulnerable populations within the state.
