Aisha Achimugu Returns to Nigeria, Reaffirms Commitment to EFCC Investigation

Prominent Nigerian businesswoman and philanthropist, Mrs. Aisha Achimugu, returned to the country early this morning, April 29, 2025, in compliance with a formal invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding an ongoing investigation.

Arriving at approximately 5:00 a.m. at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Mrs. Achimugu proceeded directly to the EFCC headquarters, honouring her earlier pledge to make herself available for questioning. Her action underscores her respect for due process and unwavering commitment to transparency and the rule of law.

Mrs. Achimugu had been temporarily outside the country on previously scheduled engagements when the EFCC’s invitation was issued on March 4, 2025. During her time abroad, she maintained consistent communication with the Commission, formally notifying it via letters dated March 5 and March 12 of her willingness to cooperate fully. In both correspondences, she clearly indicated her scheduled return for either April 28 or 29.

In a statement issued on her behalf, Mrs. Achimugu reaffirmed her commitment to support the EFCC’s work, stating that her cooperation reflects her civic responsibility and belief in the integrity of Nigeria’s justice system.

“We appreciate the professionalism, patience, and maturity displayed by the EFCC throughout this period,” the statement read. “Their approach has been fair and respectful, reaffirming public confidence in the Commission’s dedication to justice and individual rights.”
